Zillah
One of the wives of
Lamech. (4:19) She bore him two children: a son named Tubal-cain, and a daughter
named Naamah. (4:22)
Zilpah
A slave girl to Laban,
and later to his daughter Leah. Laban gave her to Leah when Leah married Jacob.
(29:24) When Leah stopped bearing children, she gave Zilpah to Jacob
so that she could have more children through her slave. (30:9) Zilpah bore Jacob
two sons: Gad and Asher. (30:10-13) Later, Leah started bearing children again.
Zimran
A child of Abraham by
his second wife, Keturah. (25:2)
Ziphion
A son of Gad. He was
one of Jacob's family that moved to Egypt. (46:5-8,16)
Zoar
The new name for the
city of Bela. It was renamed when Lot fled to the city after Sodom was
destroyed. (10:18-23)
Zohar (The name comes from the Hebrew word "zohar",
which means "glow" in English.) - There are two:
1. A Hittite.
He was the father of Ephron, who owned the field of Machpelah and sold it to
Abraham. (23:8; 25:9)
2. A son of Simeon. He was one
of Jacob's family that moved to Egypt. (46:5-8,10)
Zuzims
A tribe who lived in
the land of Canaan. They lived in the city of Ham, until the city was conquered
by Chedorlaomer in the war in Canaan. (14:5)
