This part of the genealogy ends with Noah. When the flood came, all life on earth was destroyed. After the flood subsided (chapter 9), the only people left on earth were Noah, his wife, their three sons, and the sons' wives. They repopulated the earth. Then the book ignores this first part of the genealogy, and starts over, with Noah's descendants. The genealogy continues in Part 2.
